Tomatensosse

Tomatensosse‘ in the German language refers to a tomato sauce. In some dialects this word is also used to mean ketchup!

Tomatoes are a great source of Vitamin C and B, as well as other vitamins and minerals. They are also rich in antioxidants, which protect our cells and help to fight oxidative stress.

In this recipe we use both fresh tomatoes and roasted red peppers to create a healthy, delicious and tangy tomato sauce. In addition, we add a little extra olive oil for a more intense flavour.

A tomato sauce is often used to accompany pasta, but it can be eaten with any meal, including salads and grilled meat. A tomato sauce is a great choice for those who are vegan or low in fat.

Ingredients

In a slow cooker, combine all the ingredients and cook on a low temperature for 2 hours or more. If you do not have a slow cooker, you can also prepare this sauce in the oven on a low heat for about 40 minutes.

Preparation

First, drain the tomatoes. Then, remove the seeds. In a large bowl, mix together all the other ingredients.

For a more authentic, cheesy tomato sauce we recommend grating and adding some cheese to the sauce. We recommend parmesan, but you can also use a blend of different cheeses to achieve a similar result.

Then, pour the mixture into a blender and process until smooth. Once the sauce is smooth, transfer it to a container and store in the refrigerator.

Tomato sauce is usually served with pasta, but can also be eaten as a salad or on a slice of bread. Moreover, tomato sauce is an excellent base for a variety of dishes such as pizza or stews.
