Our eWarrants application allows law enforcement agencies to send warrant requests electronically to the court, reducing the amount of time it takes for the request to be processed. By allowing for electronic transmissions of all warrant information, we also reduce the potential for errors or omissions. Additionally, the electronic process allows for real-time communication between the court and public safety agencies, allowing them to communicate with each other in real time, further reducing the amount of time it takes to process an eWarrant.

InnovateOhio developed a free statewide, uniform, electronic system for entering protection orders and warrants into Ohio’s state law enforcement database, LEADS, as well as the FBI’s national background-check system, NCIC. This interface improves the thoroughness, accuracy and timeliness of data submissions into LEADS and NCIC. It also helps to eliminate backlogs of unserved warrants and enhances situational awareness for law enforcement across the state.

The system is an internet-based platform designed to allow law enforcement officers and magistrates to create any Ewarrant (arrest, search or blood search) on a tablet or mobile device in the field from a remote location. The software is backed by the highest security protocols, ensuring that only authorized users can access the data.
